ESG management system
The company Severochema has a long-term reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality products. The basis of our competitive advantage is the care for quality. Our management system, based on the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards, is systematically maintained and further developed. We actively monitor the development of the Green Deal for Europe and related legislation and gradually integrate its requirements into our corporate strategy, planning, solutions and the products themselves.
The established system is regularly verified by the external audit company Det Norske Veritas, that repeatedly confirms our proactive approach to environmental protection, fire protection and occupational safety and health.
ESG as part of the overall management
The ESG (environment, social, governance) system is an integral part of the comprehensive risk and opportunity management system a Severochema. Environmental protection includes the assessment of the entire life cycle of products during development and innovation, cooperation with customers and gradual incorporation of circular economy principles into our activities.
We have set the following priority goals for the ESG area, which we fulfil through a specific action plan:
- carbon footprint management
- emissions management, waste production and waste water management
- energy mix optimization
- efficient water management
- sustainable approach to wood consumption
- safe working environment (physical, ethical and psychological safety)
- increasing the cyber security level
The regular review of the integrated management system also includes the requirements of international standards for creating sustainability reports.
Certification and responsible production
The cooperative is certified according to FSC® and PEFC standards as a link in the supply chain using only wood from responsible sourced timber. Both systems are regularly and successfully audited – the most recent external audit in 2024 conducted by the company Bureau Veritas confirmed full compliance with all requirements.
We manufacture our veterinary, cosmetic and cleaning products in accordance with the requirements of good manufacturing practice (GMP) or according to the IFS HPC standard, built on the HACCP risk management system. All our products – their composition, labelling, packaging and transport – comply with the current legal regulations of the Czech Republic and the countries to which we export.
Social responsibility and employee care
High-quality internal communication and a good working atmosphere play an important role in the operation of the cooperative which is actively supported by senior staff. The positive motivation of employees is the basis of a number of minor and major improvements in all areas.
An integral part of employee care is a broad social programme, which also includes the possibility of taking the so-called “sick days”. In addition to health programs (e.g., prevention, massages, exercise, education, contributions to external activities), the employees also have free consultations with a psychologist, both for personal and professional matters.
Support for the region and education
Severochema has long been supporting entities operating in the Liberec region, such as the Hospice of St. Zdislav, the Ivan Dejmal Foundation, the Czech Philumenistic Union and the Život jde dál association. At the same time, we are actively involved in supporting the young generation - we are a proud partner of the national competition “We are looking for the best young chemist in the Czech Republic” (Hledáme nejlepšího Mladého chemika v ČR), which promotes the interest of pupils and students in chemistry.
